Community Heart Screenings
Every year in the United States, up to 10,000 seemingly healthy youth suffer severely debilitating consequences, or die, due to an undetected heart condition. Heart screenings performed with an electrocardiogram (EKG) and Echocardiogram machine can detect 60% of risk factors for Sudden Cardiac Arrest in children and young adults.
Since routine physicals for seemingly healthy youth don’t include a thorough heart exam with an EKG, we are taking action to allow children and young adults to be screened for potential defects that could put them at risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
As we push forward into our third year, we will begin offering more Community Heart Screenings, free for anyone ages 12 to 18 years old.
We are able to offer heart screenings at no charge thanks to the generosity of the doctors, nurses and EKG technicians who volunteer their time and services.
It is our hope that by providing these free heart screenings, we can detect heart defects early and take action to prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest in those at risk.
Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late!
Help us get your teens screened for heart defects and abnormalities that, if undiagnosed, could lead to Sudden Cardiac Arrest and potentially death.
Through screenings and early detection, thousands of young lives can be saved.
Nothing to Fear
Screenings are fast, free, confidentialand non-invasive. Screenings will begin with a brief health and medical history questionnaire, followed by a brief consultation with the cardiologist and an Electrocardiogram (EKG). There are no x-rays or needles involved and all screenings are performed by a volunteer staff of Cardiologists, nurses and trained medical technicians.
